New Year's Eve Plant Party was the first Lininus puzzle that I ever tried and I was really impressed by the quality. So impressed that several months after trying it I added the brand to my shop!
Interestingly enough, I put this puzzle together on New Year's Day (so close to matching the title). This image by Hope Gangloff is really beautiful. I'm a sucker for a cute house plant so a scene with a whole table full drew me in. Puzzling wise, I found the bottom half of the puzzle was the easier portion of the puzzle while plants themselves to be a bit on the harder side. The leaves were certainly the more challenging portion of this puzzle, mostly because the greens are pretty similar to each other. I quite enjoyed putting together the straight lines in this puzzle (the desk, the walls in the upper right and the window frame).
If you haven't tried a Lininus puzzle, the pieces are a decently thick grey-board with a soft-touch matte finish. I really enjoy the cut of these puzzles, it's a varied grid cut that has a decent amount of variety that I didn't come across any false fits (not that it's not possible - my experience just didn't have any). My favorite pieces someone described online as a 'batman' piece which I thought was pretty clever way to describe their pointy shape. The piece fit is reasonable, but not overly snug. You can move pretty large sections around, but you'll want to move them with care or expect some pieces to drop off. Lininus puzzles come with a folded color reference poster where the art is approx 13.25x9.5". The pieces come in a plastic bag and the puzzle packaging has an artist bio on the back and the inner lid has some additional imagery by the artist. Note, expect some puzzle dust.
